Title: Genomic Privacy in Clinical Settings
Recent advances in genomic technology enable large-scale genome sequencing and analysis for research and clinical care. However, this brings about growing concerns about data protection and privacy. Upon exposure, this information may have an effect on the individual’s privacy, as well as on their family’s privacy, with consequences on daily lives such as on their insurance and employment. Thus, in order to allow genomic research and therapy to walk hand-in-hand with privacy, we present a framework for conditional access to genetic data and provenance. We demonstrate our solution using a genetic-sensitivity marking of the DNA sequence and discuss how our approach can be used to form a safe and trustable environment for using genomic information.
