Our paper was accepted (pending minor revisions) to CSCW 2023: How Mass surveillance Crowds Out Installations of COVID-19 Contact Tracing Applications. The paper analyzes the effect of Israel’s decision to use mass surveillance of cellular phones for COVID-19 contact tracing. Oshrat Ayalon and Eran Toch analyzed a survey carried out in May 2020 in Israel, with a representative sample of 519 participants (Heb + Arb speaking). We have asked whether people have installed or uninstall the app and asked about attitudes towards both systems.
